The best time to observe the animals in their prime activity is between 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon and 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM during all seasons.


The later you visit during the day, the higher the chances of them lazing in the open yard or in their feeding/resting cubicles.

You can visit the Tata Steel Zoological Park any day from 
Tuesday to Sunday, 
9 AM to 5 PM.

The zoo remains open to visitors on all national and state holidays.

The zoo is closed on Mondays.

The Tata Steel Zoological Park lies within the city of Jamshedpur in the East Indian State of Jharkhand. The zoo is well connected by road with the main approach from Sakchi – Sonari road passing through Jubilee Park.

The Tata Steel Zoological Park is spread out along the river “Swarnarekha” or “Subarna Rekha”. A part of it going around the “Jayanti Sarovar” makes the area take the shape of a ‘T’. Being close to the river, the park has the advantage of good drainage.

Although a majority of the zoo and its functionality is dependent on the Tata Steel Zoological Society’s maintenance, keeping this park safe and looking beautiful is reliant on the cooperation of our visitors.

Ask questions to the Education Officer and zoo staff about the zoo and its animals

Enjoy the vast collection of animals, trees, and plants in the zoo

Try to be cordial and polite with your fellow visitors and staff

Participate in the different activities organised and hosted by the zoo for scientific, educational and awareness purposes

Extend your full cooperation with the management and security staff of the zoo

Maintain a safe distance from the animals

Exit the zoo campus before or by the closing time

Promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security personnel

For the health of our animals, no pets are permitted in the zoo. Please don’t bring any pets

Our zoo has an excellent natural environment. Please don’t disturb it by climbing the trees, picking flowers, or disturbing the landscape

You are in a zoo to see animals and enjoy their behaviour. Please do not tease them

Please respect the security walls, stand-off barriers, and fences throughout the zoo, as they are for the safety and protection of both our guests and our animals. Do not jump over the safety area

The zoo animals are well-fed by our trained personnel. Please do not feed any animal inside the zoo

Do not enter the zoo with a polythene bag, plastic bottle, and any kind of food

The zoo is a smoke-free zone for the health and happiness of all our animals and guests. Please don’t smoke

Do not play any audio system or musical instrument inside the zoo. Bringing toys and entertainment tools like RC cars, skateboards, bikes, scooters, skates, balls, and musical instruments is not allowed

Please do not consume alcohol on the zoo campus

Do not play cricket, football, badminton, flying dish, etc. inside the zoo

Spitting openly is a cause for the spread of diseases among animals and humans. Do not spit in the zoo campus openly

Do not carry firearms or any sharp objects

The zoo is a plastic-free zone. Please do not litter the zoo premises by throwing objects like plastic bags, plates, glass, etc.

Do not participate in any activity that might impede the work of the zoo staff

We try to give the best facilities for our visitors. Please do not damage public utilities
