Our legacy

Tata Steel Zoological Society was founded in 1991 as part of Tata Steel Limited’s commitment to corporate social responsibility. Its primary objective is to conserve and protect the environment, forests, and wildlife in the steel city of Jamshedpur, while also raising awareness about the region’s endemic and exotic faunal diversity among its citizens.

Tata Steel Zoological Park (TSZP) is operated by the Tata Steel Zoological Society (TSZS) which is a 10 member body, constituted under the Society Registration Act, 1860.

Registered under the Societies Registration Act, 21 of 1860 in the state of Jharkhand and declared a ‘Charitable Institution’ under section 12A/AA of the Income Tax Act, 1961, Tata Steel Zoological Society allows donations to be eligible for 50% tax exemption under section 80G (5) of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
